So this is how my state’s new license plate looks. I have some issues with it.

1. We’ve had 6 characters for normal plates for several years now. Some time last year we went back to 7. Instead of making the characters equidistant, they put three on one side and 4 on the other for some stupid reason. The old plate has a guitar in t he middle, so for this year instead of fixing the characters....

2. They just decided to put the state seal and offset it too! On top of this garbage, the color they used for the main part of the tag makes it look dirty. Who in the hell thought this tag design was a good idea?!

I know I am just ranting but dammit this looks half-assed and it messes with my OCD.

Maybe they thought it would be easier to remember if it was formatted like a phone number.

PA plates have been formatted this way for as long as I can remember.

This is true. My stepfather has a beige on beige Camry. It'll just blend right in on it.

I forgot PA had that same setup. Who knows. Many years ago we had 7 characters and it was straight across the middle. Not sure why they just didn't do that again.

I have lived in either PA or NC for my whole life, and both states have ABC-1234 formatting on license plates so I was never really bothered by it.

I think that may have the new IL plates beat.

I hate my new plate that was formerly a classically designed plate with centered-Lincoln and now PedoLincoln with 6 characters offset to the right.

Can you still get your license at 15 there? My brother got his at 15 (in 1985) and promptly bought a highly modified 66 Mustang for $900.

Wow. In Okahoma we had a big snafu because the plate changed to a “controversial ” design as a blatant cash grab. (We aren’t allowed to raise taxes, so they have to figure out werid ways to make money) I didn’t mind it, but a lot of people did, and a couple of my friends have opted to pay extra for special plates.

I am now going to use the design you just posted as an example of how it could have been much worse haha.

ours hasn’t changed since 1977

these are some of our disallowed plates. “Diablo” is not allowed because some one is afraid of the devil in an official capacity (uncool) but 666 got past that person and is in circulation. I’m pretty sure no one requested any of these.

When Delaware moved to a different plate manufacturer a handful of years ago the people flipped. One reason was they sent local jobs to Canada, but more so that they changed the font ever so slightly and people lost their minds over it. So much so that they changed everything to be as close to the previous one.

Wanna learn some weird shit, Google Delaware license plates...we’re a bit odd about them here.

3 Letter - 3 Number plates give you 17,576,000 possible combinations. There’s not quite 3 million people in the whole state. Unless everyone has 6 cars, t here aren’t that many registered vehicles in Mississippi ( unless you need to plate all the cars in the junkyards too).  This is dumb.
